On June 1-2, industry leaders, manufacturers, researchers, workforce development partners, and economic development organizations will gather in Rochester for the NY SMART I-Corridor Semiconductor Summit at the RIT Inn and Conference Center.
For many people, semiconductors still feel like an abstract industry. We hear about microchips, AI, advanced manufacturing, and the CHIPS Act, but what does it actually mean for businesses in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and the communities in between?
This is one of the most significant economic opportunities Upstate New York has seen in generations.
The NY SMART I-Corridor is a coalition of more than 100 organizations working together to position Upstate New York as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, innovation, workforce development, and supply chain growth. The initiative stretches across Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, creating a connected super-region designed to strengthen America's domestic semiconductor industry.
Fueled in part by Micron's historic $100 billion investment in Central New York, the I-Corridor represents one of the most significant economic development opportunities Upstate New York has seen in a generation.
Industry projections suggest that by 2034, one in four American-made semiconductor chips could be produced within a 350-mile radius of the corridor. That means new facilities, new suppliers, new workforce pipelines, new contracts, and new opportunities for businesses throughout the region.
But while billions of dollars are being invested into infrastructure, technology, and workforce development, there is another critical piece of the ecosystem that often gets overlooked:
Communication.

Every Industry Transformation Needs Storytellers
At JazzCast Pros, we believe economic development is not just about building facilities. It's about building relationships.
The manufacturers entering the semiconductor supply chain need visibility. Prime contractors need to identify capable partners. Workforce organizations need platforms to showcase talent solutions. Educational institutions need ways to communicate career pathways. Community leaders need opportunities to understand how these investments will impact local families and neighborhoods.
In short, people need a way to connect. That's where media becomes infrastructure.
Just as roads, utilities, and broadband connect communities physically, strategic communication connects stakeholders intellectually and economically.
I-Corridor Communication Hub
As the semiconductor ecosystem expands across Upstate New York, JazzCast Pros is positioning itself as a communication hub for the corridor.
Our goal is to capture the stories behind the transformation.
Over the coming months, we will be actively interviewing:
Semiconductor manufacturers
Prime contractors
Subcontractors and suppliers
Workforce development leaders
Economic development organizations
Research institutions
Entrepreneurs and innovators entering the semiconductor ecosystem
We want to help translate complex industry conversations into accessible stories that business owners, job seekers, policymakers, and community members can understand.
Because while the technology may be advanced, the mission is deeply human:
Creating opportunity.

Where You Fit In
One of the most exciting aspects of the NY SMART I-Corridor is its focus on strengthening the entire supply chain.
Programs like the Supply Chain Activation Network (SCAN) are helping businesses evaluate their readiness, improve capabilities, obtain certifications, and connect with new opportunities in the semiconductor market.
Workforce initiatives like STEP UP are working to build the talent pipeline needed to support long-term growth. Innovation-focused efforts are helping researchers and startups bring new technologies to market.
For many small and mid-sized businesses, the opportunity may be closer than they realize.
A machine shop. A logistics provider. A construction company. A software developer. A precision manufacturer or a workforce training organization.
These businesses may all have a role to play in the semiconductor supply chain.
The challenge is knowing where the opportunities exist and who to connect with.
What We'll Be Covering at the Summit
The NY SMART I-Corridor Semiconductor Summit is designed to strengthen connections across supply chain, workforce development, and research and development. The two-day event will bring together leaders from across the semiconductor ecosystem to discuss innovation, commercialization, supplier readiness, and talent development.
JazzCast Pros will be there listening, learning, and documenting the conversations shaping the future of Upstate New York manufacturing.
We'll be highlighting:
Emerging supplier opportunities
Workforce development initiatives
Research and innovation breakthroughs
Economic development strategies
Success stories from manufacturers entering the semiconductor ecosystem
Practical insights for businesses looking to get involved
Most importantly, we'll be amplifying the voices of the people doing the work.
